Protecting our food supply is critical to our future. 

“National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) is a new 574,000 square foot biocontainment laboratory facility that will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for developing vaccines, performing diagnostics, and developing countermeasures against large animal foreign animal diseases (FADs) and zoonotic diseases.” USDA, NBAF Design and Construction.  The NBAF is going to contain and research some of the most dangerous and deadly diseases known to man.  While, Plum Island managed Foot & Mouth Disease, African Swine Fever, and Classical Swine Fever.  The new facilities will also continue research on those diseases and add Japanese Encephalitis, Rift Valley Fever, Nipah Virus, Ebola Virus, and Emerging Pathogens.  

Nothing is going to stop NBAF, nor any action will prevent the enviable.  So, what could possibly go wrong with a biological lab in Manhattan, Kansas?  It is known that Kansas produces $4.8 Billion in Annual Ag Exports (USDA Data 10/28/2019), is the #1 producer of wheat and sorghum in the U.S. (NASS 2020 Rankings), and is the #3 producer of U.S. cattle and beef processing (NASS 2020 Rankings).  Do you have an answer?
