Risk-Informed, Technology-Inclusive Regulatory Framework for Advanced Reactors by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on 11/22/2024.
The proposed rule is extended to February 28, 2025.
The summary, “On October 31, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) solicited comments on the part 53 proposed rulemaking, which would revise the NRC's regulations by adding a risk-informed, performance-based, and technology-inclusive regulatory framework for commercial nuclear plants in response to the Nuclear Energy Innovation and Modernization Act (NEIMA). The public comment period was originally scheduled to close on December 30, 2024. The NRC has decided to extend the public comment period to allow more time for members of the public to develop and submit their comments and for the NRC staff to engage with stakeholders on the proposed rule language.”
With only six comments on this proposed rule. Most are request for this extension. This comprehensive proposed rule will take experts a great deal of time to property comment. Hopefully, those with expertise will find the time to provide feedback to make sure that the populations affected are not harmed.
Another note:
In the last few days, the Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed animals to the threatened species status. When these species are added to the list, the area in which they thrive is protect from development and other economic activities. Funding for research and protection measures are implemented. From USDebtClock.org
According to the US Debt Clock at roughly 9:00 AM, the US debt is roughly $36,020,018,000,000. It seems that the debt per taxpayer is $272,821. The good news is that the federal government revenue is roughly $5,049,165,000,000. Not too shabby if you ask me.
Special Note: Interest of Debt (Net) is $999,130,000,000.
The Sun Update:
From Spaceweather.com, “CRYOVOCANIC COMET 29P ERUPTS AGAIN: "We have witnessed another intense eruption on Comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann," reports Richard Miles of the British Astronomical Association. "The outburst on Nov. 21st brightened the nucleus by a factor of 79." This is the 6th such eruption in the past 20 days, signaling a period of unusual activity among the comet's ice geysers. Amateur astronomers can monitor the expanding debris in the constellation Leo.”
Amazing website with great information about the Earth-Sun environment.
